Privacy Policy for Mobile as a Webcam
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Mobile as a Webcam ("the App", "we", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects user information. The App is a dedicated hardware utility and real-time streaming environment created to turn your mobile device into a high-definition webcam and microphone for your personal computer.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data, camera feeds, and voice streams. The application is built on a local-first architecture, meaning your camera video frames, microphone audio packets, and network communication remain processed in volatile memory and transmitted directly across your personal local area network (LAN).
2. Information We Collect and Process
To function as a wireless webcam and microphone, the App requires access to specific device hardware features and local network permissions:
A. Camera & Video Streaming Data (android.permission.CAMERA)
When you open the camera or start a streaming session, the App accesses your device camera sensors (front and rear) to transmit live video to your computer:
- Live Camera Frames: Captured in real time from your camera sensor to broadcast a live MJPEG video stream directly to your connected PC receiver client.
- Video Format & Resolution Conversion: Converted in volatile device RAM (YUV420 to RGB/JPEG) via background Dart Isolates without lag or main-thread freezing.
- Sensor Orientation Data: Evaluated dynamically to auto-rotate your camera feed so your video is displayed right-side up on your PC monitor.
- Real-Time Color Filters & Adjustments: Applied in volatile memory when you choose beauty, grayscale, emerald tint, brightness, or contrast options.
- Zero Cloud Storage: All video frames are transmitted strictly over your private local Wi-Fi router. No camera frames or video recordings are ever uploaded to cloud servers or saved to permanent device storage.
B. Microphone & Audio Streaming Data (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO)
When microphone audio streaming is enabled to use your phone as a PC microphone input:
- Live PCM Audio Stream: Captured directly from your device microphone as uncompressed 16-bit 16kHz mono PCM audio packets.
- Real-Time Memory Buffer: Streamed live through volatile memory directly to your paired PC receiver client over your local network.
- Zero Audio Recording: The App does not record conversations, does not save audio files to permanent disk storage, and never uploads voice data to external servers.
C. Local Area Network & Wi-Fi Communication (android.permission.INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE)
To establish a direct, low-latency connection between your phone and your computer:
- Local Private IP Address: Reads your device's private network IPv4 address (e.g., 192.168.1.X) solely to host an embedded local HTTP stream server on port 4747 and generate the pairing QR code.
- Local UDP Auto-Discovery Broadcast: Broadcasts an automated announcement on port 4748 strictly within your local home or office Wi-Fi subnet so the PC software detects your phone automatically.
- Local Subnet Isolation: Network traffic is confined strictly to your private local network and is never routed over the public internet.
D. Hardware Controls (android.permission.FLASHLIGHT)
- Flashlight / Torch Toggle: Toggles your device LED light on or off for scene illumination during webcam use upon your tap or remote command from your PC. No data is collected or stored.
E. Device Technical Information (device_info_plus)
- Device Model & Manufacturer: Retrieved locally (e.g., "Samsung Galaxy", "Google Pixel") exclusively to label your device name in the local UDP discovery broadcast so you can easily recognize your phone in the PC receiver menu.
F. Google Play Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID)
- Google Advertising Identifier (GAID): Declared in the application manifest in compliance with Google Play Services requirements and Google Play Developer Policies for analytics attribution and platform integrity. The App does not serve third-party behavioral advertisement banners.
G. App Activity & Usage Analytics (firebase_analytics)
To evaluate application performance and improve streaming reliability:
- App Interactions & Session Metrics: Automatically collects anonymous session events, including app launches, session durations, and screen navigation views.
- Anonymous Aggregation: App activity data is strictly aggregated and anonymous. It is never linked to your personal identity, contacts, or media files.
H. Crash Data & Diagnostic Logs (firebase_crashlytics)
To diagnose unexpected application failures and ensure continuous stability:
- Real-Time Crash Logs & Stack Traces: Captures uncaught exceptions, fatal framework errors, and call stack traces when an application error occurs.
- Device Environment at Crash Time: Records non-personal technical diagnostics, including Android OS build version, hardware device model, available memory (RAM), and orientation at the moment of a crash.
- Zero Media Exposure: Crashlytics does not capture, store, or transmit camera video frames, microphone audio packets, or local Wi-Fi communications.
3. How We Use and Process Your Information
We process information strictly for the following purposes:
- Real-Time Streaming: Transmitting live camera video and microphone audio directly from your smartphone to your computer client over your private Wi-Fi network.
- Device Pairing & Discovery: Displaying local IP addresses and pairing QR codes, and sending local UDP discovery announcements for seamless PC pairing.
- Remote Stream Controls: Processing user-initiated adjustments (zoom, camera flip, flash toggle, brightness) sent from the PC client to the phone.
- App Stability & Reliability: Monitoring application performance and resolving crash reports to maintain smooth app performance.
4. Third-Party Developer Services
The App integrates trusted developer services provided by Google LLC:
- Google Play Services: Provides essential Android operating system integration, app licensing, and security updates (Google Privacy Policy).
- Google Firebase: Provides fundamental infrastructure, crash analytics, and app stability telemetry to diagnose technical issues (Firebase Privacy & Security).
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, trade, lease, or share any personal, video, or audio data with any third parties or data brokers.
- Peer-to-Peer Transmission: Video and audio streams are transmitted exclusively to the computer client that you explicitly pair with on your private local Wi-Fi network.
- Zero External Cloud Access: No third party, intermediary, or external cloud server has access to your live camera frames or audio packets.
6. Data Retention, Storage, and Security
- Volatile In-Memory Transmission: All media streams exist only in volatile device RAM while active and cease immediately when streaming stops or the app is closed.
- Private Subnet Isolation: The embedded streaming server binds only to your local Wi-Fi network interface. Devices outside your local network cannot connect without your explicit network routing.
- No User Accounts or Passwords: The App does not require registration, login credentials, passwords, or personal profiles.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Mobile as a Webcam is intended for general audiences and productivity users. The application is not directed toward children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at Kaleemullahabc700@gmail.com for prompt deletion.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the application following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
